Following the controversy over a TMZ interview, West re-recorded all of the album's tracks, finishing it in only two weeks at West Lake Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. PartyNextDoor, Ty Dolla Sign, Kid Cudi, Charlie Wilson, Jeremih, and 070 Shake, among others, contribute guest vocals.
West collaborated with Mike Dean on Ye, as well as a slew of other artists. The album was the second of five seven-track albums produced by West in what were referred to as the "Wyoming Sessions," which were scheduled to be released weekly and followed the release of Pusha T's Daytona.
It came before the release of West's Kids See Ghosts collaboration album with Kid Cudi, titled Kids See Ghosts. Nas' Nasir and Teyana Taylor's K.T.S.E. followed the release of the latter. On May 31, 2018, West conducted a listening party for Ye in Jackson Hole, which was livestreamed.
West launched Ye on June 1, 2018, without any singles, as is common among singers who use the "sudden release" option to avoid a large marketing push. West's labels released "Yikes" as the album's lead track to UK mainstream radio stations on June 8.
West then chose "All Mine" as the second single from Ye, which was released on July 20, 2018, and includes Ty Dolla Sign and Clemons on vocals. West took this decision in response to his record labels preparing a tune for such a release in order to prevent the album's momentum from slipping after "Yikes" failed to chart.
